Taipei Main Station: THSR, TRA, Metro and Airport MRT

Navigate Taipei Main Station by separating THSR, TRA and metro legs, checking signs and allowing time for transfers.
TaiwanTrain is an independent service, not the official THSR or TRA website. Where booking is offered, availability confirmation and ticket fulfilment are manual. Payment does not guarantee ticket issuance. Check the operator’s current timetable and ticket rules for your travel date.
Separate the four rail systems
Taipei Main Station serves THSR and TRA and connects with Taipei Metro’s red and blue lines. Airport MRT A1 is a separate station in the wider interchange area, reached by following signs and walking. The systems have separate gates and ticket conditions; entering a metro gate does not put you on the THSR platform.
Transfer with luggage or accessibility needs
Save the next operator, destination, departure time and train number before changing systems. Follow operator signage first, then the correct platform or exit. With a stroller, wheelchair or large suitcase, use the station’s lift and accessibility information and allow extra walking time. For an airport connection, include the walk to A1 as well as the Airport MRT ride.
Pre-trip checklist
- Confirm whether the journey uses THSR, TRA, or a separate tourism railway.
- Check the full station name because HSR and TRA stations may be in different parts of the same city.
- Recheck current operator information shortly before departure.
- Allow enough time for transfers between rail systems and local transport.
