Pingxi Line Guide: Ruifang, Shifen and Return Connections

Plan a Pingxi Line day trip through Shifen and Pingxi with careful transfer, stop and return-journey checks.
TaiwanTrain is an independent service, not the official THSR or TRA website. Where booking is offered, availability confirmation and ticket fulfilment are manual. Payment does not guarantee ticket issuance. Check the operator’s current timetable and ticket rules for your travel date.
Reach the branch via a verified TRA connection
Use TRA to plan a connection through Ruifang or the interchange shown for your selected service. Shifen, Pingxi and Jingtong are different branch-line stops. Do not assume a train departs directly from Taipei to every stop, or that trains run frequently enough for unlimited stopovers. Read the current branch timetable and choose a small number of visits.
Shifen and Jiufen are different trips
Shifen is associated with the Pingxi branch; Jiufen Old Street has no railway station and needs a road connection, commonly from Ruifang. Combining both can mean backtracking and separate bus travel. Verify branch operating notices, leave room for queues and save a return option before sightseeing. Stay out of the track area whenever trains are operating.
Pre-trip checklist
- Confirm whether the journey uses THSR, TRA, or a separate tourism railway.
- Check the full station name because HSR and TRA stations may be in different parts of the same city.
- Recheck current operator information shortly before departure.
- Allow enough time for transfers between rail systems and local transport.
